Sedum album
White stonecrop (Sedum album) is a ground cover plant that reaches 10 cm × 50 cm after ten years. Light: full sun, part shade. Hardy down to -40 °C. Drought tolerance: high. Non-toxic to dogs, cats and children. Sold in local shops from about €4.
An evergreen succulent whose tiny cylindrical leaves knit into a low, dense mat that disappears under a haze of white flowers in early summer. It is a good choice for green roofs, gravel, wall crevices and any lean, sunny spot where other plants would dry out. It spreads fast and even broken stems and fallen leaves take root, so it can overrun low neighbours: plant it only where that is welcome.
