Koeleria glauca
Blue hair grass (Koeleria glauca) is an ornamental grass that reaches 40 cm × 30 cm after ten years. Light: full sun. Hardy down to -29 °C. Drought tolerance: high. Sold in local shops from about HUF 1,200.
A small, hedgehog-like tussock of steel-blue blades that is native to the dry, lime-rich sand grasslands of the region, so it is happiest in full sun and poor, loose, dry soil. Glossy flower spikes rise above the leaves in early summer and fade to cream; use it as edging, in rock and gravel gardens or planted in numbers. Keep it out of rich, moist or heavy soil, where it dies out within two or three years.
