Lysimachia punctata
Dotted loosestrife (Lysimachia punctata) is a perennial that reaches 90 cm × 1 m after ten years. Light: full sun, part shade. Hardy down to -34 °C. Drought tolerance: low. Sold in local shops from about €3.90.
A vigorous, upright perennial covered in bright yellow flowers for weeks in summer and asking for almost no care. It looks best in sun or part shade in moist, fertile soil: by a pond, in front of trees and shrubs or in a wild corner. It spreads fast by rhizomes and crowds out weaker neighbours, so plant it only where it has room or where you can hold it back with a root barrier or regular digging out.
