Prunus serrulata 'Kanzan'
Japanese flowering cherry 'Kanzan' (Prunus serrulata 'Kanzan') is a small tree. Light: full sun. Hardy down to -23 °C. Drought tolerance: medium. Toxic to dogs and cats.
The best known Japanese flowering cherry: in late April and early May it is covered in fully double, vivid pink blossom, on a crown that is vase-shaped when young and spreading later. Plant it as a specimen in a sunny, well-drained spot and allow for a crown eight to ten metres wide in time. It is not a long-lived tree and it dislikes waterlogged soil and hard pruning.
