Prunus incisa
Fuji cherry (Prunus incisa) is a shrub. Light: full sun. Hardy down to -23 °C. Drought tolerance: medium.
In nurseries you will find almost only the dwarf 'Kojo-no-mai': a slow, compact shrub with zigzag twigs that is covered in white, pink-centred blossom in early spring before the leaves, and turns orange-red in autumn. It suits small gardens and large pots, and is also sold grafted on a stem as a miniature tree. Give it sun and well-drained soil that does not dry out, and water it in summer drought.
