Buddleja × weyeriana
Weyer's butterfly bush (Buddleja × weyeriana) is a shrub. Hardy down to -23 °C. Drought tolerance: high. Sold in local shops from about €13.
A vigorous, arching butterfly bush that swaps the usual purple for yellow, apricot or yellow and lilac scented flowers packed into ball-shaped clusters, from early summer until frost, always busy with butterflies and bees. Give it full sun and sharp drainage, because wet soil in winter harms it more than cold does. Cut it back hard every spring: it also flowers on the new shoots, so it recovers well after winter dieback. It sets far less seed than the common butterfly bush, but it is still worth cutting off the spent flower heads.
