Leucanthemum × superbum
Shasta daisy (Leucanthemum × superbum) is a perennial that reaches 90 cm × 60 cm after ten years. Light: full sun, part shade. Hardy down to -29 °C. Drought tolerance: medium. Sold in local shops from about HUF 1,400.
The classic big white daisy with a yellow centre that flowers for weeks in summer, cuts well and draws bees and butterflies. Plant it in sun and well-drained soil and deadhead it to keep new flowers coming. It is short-lived, so divide the clumps every two or three years, and tall varieties may flop in very rich soil.
