Anaphalis triplinervis
Pearly everlasting (Anaphalis triplinervis) is a perennial that reaches 50 cm × 50 cm after ten years. Light: full sun, part shade. Hardy down to -40 °C. Drought tolerance: low. Sold in local shops from about HUF 1,300.
A bushy perennial with grey, felted leaves that carries small, yellow-centred, white papery flower heads from midsummer into autumn; they are lovely cut or dried and keep for a long time. Unlike most grey-leaved plants it does not want drought: it is happiest in moist, humus-rich but well-drained soil, and it wilts and loses its lower leaves quickly when it dries out. It forms a tidy, slowly widening clump and grows in sun or part shade.
