Anemone tomentosa
Grape-leaf anemone (Anemone tomentosa) is a perennial that reaches 1.1 m × 90 cm after ten years. Light: part shade, full sun. Hardy down to -34 °C. Drought tolerance: low. Sold in local shops from about HUF 1,100.
The toughest and earliest of the Japanese-type anemones: pale pink flowers float on thin stems above vine-like leaves from late summer into autumn. It looks best in part shade and humus-rich soil that does not dry out in summer. It is slow for the first years but then spreads strongly by its roots, so give it room or pull back the runners regularly.
