Campanula carpatica
Carpathian bellflower (Campanula carpatica) is a perennial that reaches 25 cm × 30 cm after ten years. Light: full sun, part shade. Hardy down to -40 °C. Drought tolerance: low. Sold in local shops from about €2.90.
Carpathian bellflower is a low, cushion-forming perennial that is covered for weeks from early summer with upward-facing blue, purple or white bells. It suits rock gardens, bed edges and pots, in sun or light part shade, in soil that drains well but does not dry out. Deadheading and dividing it every two or three years keep it looking good for longer.
