Lonicera × tellmanniana
Tellmann's honeysuckle (Lonicera × tellmanniana) is a climber. Light: part shade, full sun. Hardy down to -23 °C. Drought tolerance: medium.
A vigorous deciduous honeysuckle that carries clusters of large coppery orange tubular flowers at the shoot tips in early summer; it has no scent, but it flowers freely in part shade, which is rare among honeysuckles. It climbs by twining stems and has no suckers or aerial roots, so it needs something to wind around: a trellis, wire mesh, a fence, a pergola post or tensioned wires; it will not go up a bare wall on its own. That way it climbs to 4 or 5 metres, even more in a good spot, so give it room. It wants fresh, fertile, well-drained soil with its base in shade, and watering in dry summers.
