Euphorbia polychroma
Cushion spurge (Euphorbia polychroma) is a perennial that reaches 45 cm × 45 cm after ten years. Light: full sun, part shade. Hardy down to -34 °C. Drought tolerance: high. Toxic to children. Sold in local shops from about PLN 16.
A perennial that forms a neat dome and glows sulphur yellow around April and May, then turns red in autumn. It suits a sunny, dry border, also on limy soil, lives long and needs very little care. In too much shade the clump flops open, and the milky sap irritates skin, so wear gloves when you cut it back.
