Weigela florida
Weigela (Weigela florida) is a shrub that reaches 2.5 m × 2.5 m after ten years. Light: full sun, part shade. Hardy down to -34 °C. Drought tolerance: medium. Non-toxic to children. Sold in local shops from about €4.
An easy, dependable deciduous shrub that is covered in funnel-shaped pink, red or white flowers in late spring and early summer, often with a lighter second flush in late summer. It flowers best in sun but takes light shade, and grows in almost any soil that is not waterlogged. It blooms on last year's wood, so prune right after flowering and thin out the oldest stems every few years, or it gets bare and sprawling.
