Campanula poscharskyana
Serbian bellflower (Campanula poscharskyana) is a ground cover plant that reaches 15 cm × 60 cm after ten years. Light: full sun, part shade. Hardy down to -40 °C. Drought tolerance: medium. Sold in local shops from about €3.50.
A vigorous bellflower with trailing stems that are smothered in star-shaped lavender-blue flowers from late spring into summer, often blooming again in autumn after a trim. It is excellent on top of retaining walls, in the gaps of stone walls, beside steps and as an edging, in sun or part shade. It spreads quickly by runners and by seed, so keep it away from small, slow rock garden plants, which it will overrun.
