Sedum reflexum
Reflexed stonecrop (Sedum reflexum) is a ground cover plant that reaches 12 cm × 60 cm after ten years. Light: full sun, part shade. Hardy down to -29 °C. Drought tolerance: high. Mildly toxic to children. Sold in local shops from about €3.60.
A trailing succulent whose needle-like, fleshy leaves make it look like tiny spruce twigs; it forms a loose mat and carries yellow star flowers in summer. Besides the grey-green species, the form most often sold is 'Angelina', golden yellow and turning orange in the cold. It belongs in sunny, dry gravel, on walls and in pots; the stems and leaves snap off easily, but they root where they fall.
