Lysimachia nummularia
Creeping Jenny (Lysimachia nummularia) is a ground cover plant that reaches 10 cm × 60 cm after ten years. Light: full sun, part shade. Hardy down to -34 °C. Drought tolerance: medium. Sold in local shops from about €3.90.
A creeping perennial with coin-shaped leaves that roots wherever its stems touch the ground and carries small bright yellow cup flowers in summer; a golden-leaved form is widely planted too. It quickly knits into a mat in damp spots, by a pond, under trees or between stepping stones, and trails nicely from pots and walls. Plant it in moist or wet soil and only where it has room to roam, because it creeps into the lawn and between neighbouring plants.
